Well, hello there!
Sometimes, plans change. I expected to be writing to you about how our town’s Tulip Festival traffic reminds me to never take our normally quiet country roads for granted. About Tiny Tim and tractors and rain-delayed blooms and appreciating what’s right in front of me. Plans changed because what I really want to tell you has nothing to do with miles and miles of Skagit Valley Tulip fields, and everything to do with you.
You matter. Every time you tell us a project was a success, that a mission was accomplished, that your team looked snazzy, that we made your job a little easier, we celebrate. Really big.
You are the reason we get up in the morning, the reason we fire up our computers, the reason we harass FedEx one…more…time. You’re why we ideate, collaborate, call to the gods for inspiration, and invite you to ask us to pivot until we land on “the perfect thing”. You’re why we get frantic when you’re frantic. Excited when you’re excited. Delighted when you’re delighted.
It’s you we never take for granted. It’s you we always appreciate. You’re our tulip bouquet.

Each year, we host an in-person company get-together. Many of our employees are remote, so it’s our chance to see each other face-to-face and spend some time together. While there are some company updates and presentations from leaders, the meeting is mostly about showing our appreciation to our employees, sharing a great meal and having fun.
Each employee leaves with a gift at the end, but I worry that not everyone loves what they’re given. I want to make sure it’s something they’ll enjoy and actually use, but how do we accomplish that with so many people? I need a fresh-as-Spring idea to change things up this year!
